More on Tomindar

I recently spoke with Providence Cicero from Seattle, Washington. She is a wine and food critic and writes regularly for the Seattle Times and the Seattle Magazine. She recently visited Pittsburgh and enjoyed a bottle of Tomindar with her mother, Rosemary Cicero of Mt. Washington. She describes Tomindar: "My first impression was soft and spicy. This well blended white wine, when accompanied with Croatian cheese strudel ( baked by Dubravka Nezic/co-owner of Nezic Winery), offered an austere quality and taste. The finish is smooth. This wine is excellant and certainly has its place in the competitive market of European Wines in the USA."

This time of year is a very busy time for Nezic Winery! Much attention is given to the vines. This includes spraying for bugs and tying the vines to posts to support the fruit of the vine. The frequency of these tasks are contingent on the weather. Lots of rain and humidity increases this work to weekly! Sun and heat are a grape's best friend for this growing season. We hope for a hot and sunny summer in Croatia and in Pittsburgh! Thus far, it is very hot and not so humid for the past 2 weeks in Croatia, let's keep it that way! As for Pittsburgh, we welcome the sun and are grateful the SUN finally graced us with its presence today!

A New, Fresh Taste in Pittsburgh!

The time is here when the small fruit of the vine is about to flower. Check out the picture above. These are the grapes that will offer you tasting pleasure in a year. This confirms the beauty of the process at any stage. The fragrance is wonderful! You will notice the smell before you see the small blossoms as they are minute! So, try to place yourself in a vineyard, this time of year, to smell the fragrant fruit and flower!

We are so pleased with the response we are receiving about Tomindar! We've hosted a few wine tastings and poured at the Annual Young Women's Breast Cancer Foundation! We were surfing the net and found a very flattering critique of Tomindar on Merchant Circle. Briefly speaking, "incredible" taste and "this is by far the best wine I've had in a long time. Culture has come to Pgh".

Look for us at The City Theatre ( south side of Pittsburgh) on Wed., May 20th for a pour before "Speak English", a play about immigrants taking a class to learn to speak English!

The Gypsy Cafe will be serving select eastern European dishes to pair with your glass of Tomindar before the play. So, arrive early, from 6:30 -8:00pm for some nourishment before star rated entertainment.
